About Me

Note from Maria: I am a Registered Dietitian with a Master of Public Health Degree in Nutrition from UNC at Chapel Hill. I have a passion for helping people with nutrition & wellness, especially moms. Women & moms provide care for everyone else often at the expense of considering their own needs. I hope to provide good resources to you to help you make nutrition and wellness a priority.

This time of year it is easy to get dehydrated, especially if you exercise outside. It is best to drink beverages that have little to no calories and save your calories for food. Drinking water is great, but if you don't like plain water here are some ideas: drink iced herbal tea with no sugar added, add lemon/lime/orange slices to plain water or sparkling water/seltzer. Just remember to read the labels on seltzer to make sure it has no sugar added (tonic water usually has sugar). Here are some links if you need additional ideas:

Stay well and hydrated! Please write me if you have any questions or comments!!

  1. How can I get my husband weened off mayonnaise?! I think it is what is keeping him from losing weight. He puts it in everything.

  2. Hi Mom of 5, How much mayo does he use in an average day? It would add a lot of calories if he literally puts it on all his food. Hellman's makes a great Olive Oil Mayo that only has 40 calories per tablespoon. Maybe you could switch to that one and encourage him to measure out what he is using in a day. He probably wouldn't quit cold turkey, but you could help him cut back. Let me know what you think. Maria
