About Me

Note from Maria: I am a Registered Dietitian with a Master of Public Health Degree in Nutrition from UNC at Chapel Hill. I have a passion for helping people with nutrition & wellness, especially moms. Women & moms provide care for everyone else often at the expense of considering their own needs. I hope to provide good resources to you to help you make nutrition and wellness a priority.

Eat more and lose weight....

If you love to eat, losing weight can be challenging! One strategy is to fill up on foods that make you feel full but have very little calories. You can do this by eating large servings of non starchy veggies at every meal. Eat smaller amounts of foods with lots of calories such as fats, meats and starches.  For example start your meal with a large salad (with low cal dressing) or a large bowl of veggie soup. This will help you become satisfied with less of the entree and other higher calorie items that follow. This concept is called volumetrics, follow this link to learn more....

This definitely helps me manage my weight. If you are trying to lose a few pounds, see if it works for you too.
