Coffee "recipes"

You can save calories (and money) by skipping high calorie coffee drinks. For example let's check out  a few of drinks from Starbucks:
  • Vanilla bean creme frappuccino (16oz) has 400 calories, 57 grams of sugar and 16 grams of fat
  • Mocha coconut frappuccino LIGHT (16oz) has 160 calories and 32 grams of sugar
  • Peppermint white chocolate mocha (16oz) has 420 calories, 75 grams of sugar and 18 grams of fat.
  • Iced skinny flavored latte (16oz) has 80 calories and 10 grams of sugar
Even the light ones aren't that great. Ask for nutrition info or get it online to make good choices. The best bet is to make coffee at home. You make it "fancy" try adding any combination of the following:
  • almond milk
  • coconut milk
  • vanilla or almond extract w/ one tsp of sugar, with or without skim milk
  • unsweetened cocoa powder w/ one tsp of sugar, with or without skim milk
  • pumpkin pie spice w/one tsp or sugar, with or without skim milk
  • Natural Bliss "natural" coffee creamer which has 35 calories serving
  • Stir in one soft peppermint candy
  • Reddi wip (whipped cream in the can) only has about 15 calories per serving
Note: one teaspoon (tsp) of sugar = 4 grams of sugar = 16 calories
