About Me

Note from Maria: I am a Registered Dietitian with a Master of Public Health Degree in Nutrition from UNC at Chapel Hill. I have a passion for helping people with nutrition & wellness, especially moms. Women & moms provide care for everyone else often at the expense of considering their own needs. I hope to provide good resources to you to help you make nutrition and wellness a priority.

Mental Health

A big part of taking care of yourself is taking care of your mental health! Making healthy food choices and regular exercise can help make you feel better. Getting enough sleep is also very important to keep a positive mood! However, sometimes these things aren't enough. According to www.mayoclinic.com here are some symptoms of clinical depression: sadness/unhappiness, irritability/frustration, loss of interest in activities, decreased sex drive, insomnia or excess sleeping, increased/decreased appetite, agitation, angry outbursts, fatigue, crying for no reason, thoughts of death/suicide, unexplained aches/pains. If you are feeling sad or hopeless for two weeks or longer without obvious cause you should talk to your doctor. Our bodies/minds are very complex and sometimes things don't work as they should. It takes a lot of chemical balance to regulate mood and sometimes things get out of sync. It is nothing to be embarrassed about. Stay well!
